Behind the Scenes: Mission 10 Miler

Nina Catron, Mission 10 Miler committee member, not only works hard behind the scences for the race but she also runs in it!

As an avid runner, this race stands out to her because of the cause behind the race. Nina has volunteered at the Mission over the years and believes in our mission statement- to change lives now and for eternity. For Nina, her favorite part of the race is beginning with a prayer, which exposes all who participate to the love of Christ and what the Mission is all about.

Nina has served on the committee since the beginning and she perviously ran with a group “Jogging for Jesus”. This group would run with residents in the Changed Life Recovery Program and help instill healthy habits into their new lifestyles. Due to her involvement, Nina was excited to join the committe and to share her knowledge of races from a runner’s perspective.

Carol Stanfield, Director of Compassion Ministries, has served on the Mission 10 Miler committee since the first race and she loves to see how the race gets better and better each year!

In her position, Carol handles various logistics ranging from overseeing volunteers to providing food for runners. A few of her favorite parts of the Mission 10 Miler includes recruting volunteers who can expereince the excitement on race day and making new friends who support the Mission through this race.

“This race is a great way to spread the love of Jesus to the runners and our volunteers. It is a great example of successful team work.”
One of Carol’s strong suits is organizing special events and through the Mission 10 Miler she is able to deepen relationships with staff, volunteers and runners while doing something she loves!
