Frederick County Association of Realtors donates money to local charities
Raising money for the less fortunate is one of the things the Frederick County Association of Realtors® Community Service Committee does best. During the monthly FCAR membership meeting on Feb. 7 at Dutch’s Daughter restaurant, Committee Chair Tracey Sullivan and several members of her committee made two check presentations to local Frederick County charities totaling $3,000.
A $1,000 check was given to the Frederick Rescue Mission and a $2,000 check was given to the Interfaith Housing Authority.
“We have a devoted group of Realtors® and affiliate members that work hard for our community,” Sullivan said. “It was an honor to give back to two great organizations that give so much to our Frederick community. My heart definitely felt full. It was such a wonderful experience.”
The money was raised last November during the annual Charity Auction held on Nov. 27. The Community Service Committee has been raising money to benefit the Frederick County community for more 30 years. The annual Charity Auction is always a popular event and raised over $11,000 last year.
The committee has several other fundraising events happening this spring and summer including a paint night scheduled for April 10 and the annual summer BBQ FUNdraiser on June 5 at Buckeystown Pub.
Committee members will also be participating in the Rebuilding Together event being held on April 27.
“FCAR Realtors® and affiliate members are incredibly generous with their time and resources,” FCAR President Maureen Nichols said. “We are proud to say volunteerism is big part of our culture.”
