Frederick Rescue Mission Supports the Efforts for a Healthier Community
The men of the Mission’s Beacon House are guided to be transformed wholly by the love of Christ, mentally through the Lindsey Learning Center, emotionally through the care of counselors and fellowship, and physically through programs like Tracy’s Jogging for Jesus exercise. Jogging for Jesus is in existence to allow the men to experience a different kind of "high" instead of the chemical addictions they were used to, all while glorifying Jesus through the perseverance.
Residents Calvin Chambers and Raymond Mileo (shown in photo above) dedicated to Jogging for Jesus and will continue to run for all the great benefits it has for themselves and for the community. Calvin Chambers made his first appearance as a runner at the 11th Annual YMCA 5K on September 9th. He came in a respectable 27:27 for his first race ever. Raymond Mileo completed his 3rd local 5K race on Sept 9th as well. Volunteer Tracy Vagrin continues to encourage and run with the men at the Beacon House each week. If you would like to join our running group please call the Mission at 301-695-6633 x102 for more information.
The Frederick Rescue Mission’s Beacon House accommodates 40 men who are committed to overcoming life-dominating influences and addictions. Another aspect of the ministry is feeding the hungry and homeless men, women and children of Frederick County twice a day, every day of the year. The Mission also distributes food boxes, clothing, and household items to individuals and families in need.
Tracy and residents of the Frederick Rescue Mission give back to the community.
