Feed the Children Supplies Food for the Frederick Rescue Mission

A couple weeks ago, the staff and residents of the Frederick Rescue Mission along with Congressman Roscoe Bartlett and many hungry families stood on the front lawn of the Beacon House as more than a hundred bikers of Star Motorcycle club rode up with food boxes from Feed The Children hauled on the back of their bikes. The families waiting in line to exchange their food box vouchers for a supply of food sufficient for a family of four. Many of these families come to the Mission on a regular basis to receive hot nutritious meals every day or a Mission food box once a month. It was an amazing event to hear the loud gospel music playing and see a community of helpers unload and transfer hundreds of food boxes from the bikes and truck to the Mission’s Beacon House.

Congressman Roscoe BartlettIt was a heartfelt community effort and as Congressman Roscoe Bartlett would explain it, "So often people want to depend on the government for help but here is an example of people helping people… The Bible says it is more of a blessing to give than to receive. Those who are here to receive food are blessed but I’ll tell you that there will be a whole lot more blessing for the people responsible for this. So thank you everyone!"

Not all 400 food boxes were distributed on that day but recipients are continuously arriving at the Mission’s door with vouchers. Feed The Children generously provided the food boxes and will do this same event annually starting from this year. Feed The Children delivers food and other necessities to families in need and is the 3rd largest international charity in the U.S. based on private, non-government support. They have outreached in 118 countries around the globe.

The Frederick Rescue Mission feeds the hungry and homeless twice a day, every day of the year. They also distribute emergency food boxes, clothing, and furniture to anyone in need. Aside from feeding the Frederick men, women and children, the Mission’s Beacon House accommodates up to 40 men who are dedicated in overcoming life-dominating addictions.
