Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program
Every year the Frederick Rescue Mission engages in the Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program. This program connects individuals, companies, organizations, and churches in the Frederick community to low income families and Beacon House residents who without the compassion of caring people would not enjoy all the festivities of Christmas.
We as Christian know that the true meaning of Christmas comes from the joy we receive in knowing this is the day to celebrate the birth of our Savior. It is also a time to spend with family and share gifts with one another.
For many of the men participating in the Changed Life Recovery Program at Beacon House, the Christmas season can be a difficult time, where they have committed to remain in the program to receive all God has to offer them, so that when they do return to their families they will never have to return to another treatment center, jail, or Rescue Mission again.
The difficulty comes into play when they want to leave in order to provide a joyous Christmas for their wives and children. The Adopt-a-Family Program assures each man that his family will be cared for during Christmas time. In many cases it is this assurance that allows the men to continue on in their journey with Jesus.
