Daniel W. Kemp TESTIMONY— Invincible Love

God’s love for us is invincible. God’s love cannot be conquered or destroyed. It is hard to fathom in our mind that God’s love for us could exceed any love we could ever feel for our spouses, children, parents, friends, ourselves, or anyone.

As much as I tried, I could not destroy God’s love for me. Believe me, I tried. Throughout my life of rejection of Him He showed me His love. He called out to me and I did not listen. Ignorance, rejection, pride — despite my best efforts, my worst evil, I could not destroy His love for me. God’s love is invincible.

The cars, the homes, and the friends were not invincible. Worldly pleasures and possessions, all that seemed so important to me, were easily destroyed. My devotion was not to God. My devotion to things other than God was easily destroyed — I had no trouble destroying everything in my life — worldly and spiritually — with Satan’s help — with alcohol, low morals, depression, and ignorance. The thing I failed to accept, failed to receive, and failed to comprehend was God’s steadfast invincible love.

Unworthy. God’s love is not only invincible — God’s love is incredibly patient. He waited for me to lower myself in order that I would receive something that was freely available to me as a gift. Nothing is required in return except our steadfast love of Him, and our worship and praise. Why is it so hard to accept this gift from God? Why do we have to destroy ourselves with alcohol and drugs in order to humble ourselves to the point that we are able to see and understand how easy it is to accept this gift of His love.?

The Frederick Rescue Mission (FRM) is truly an expression of God’s love. FRM’s love is always there, freely given, and steadfast.

I used alcohol to try to deal with worldly problems and pain. Satan loves this playground. Alcohol has no power to alleviate or to solve any of our problems. The only power alcohol has is to make our problems incredibly worse, destroy our awareness of God’s love, and destroy our ability to accept that love. Satan cannot destroy God’s love — God’s love is invincible.

My art is a talent given to me freely by God. I have not always accepted that talent or used it to the best of my ability. Again, Satan freely offers worldly traps and obstacles to inhibit our ability to freely accept and express the talents that are given to us as a gift by God. God and the Frederick Rescue Mission, after 14 loving and kind months, have given me the opportunity to gratefully accept and exercise the talent given to me by God. I want to express, through my paintings, the love of God and Jesus that has been extended to me by the FRM Staff, fellow Beacon House residents, FRM volunteers, and the public that the FRM serves. I will thank and glorify God through painting my acquaintances and experiences here at the FRM.

I thank God and everyone at the Frederick Rescue Mission for the gift they gave me of the awareness of God’s love for me. I want to live and give my life to the fullest now, immersed in God’s love.
