The Frederick Rescue Mission has been serving Frederick city and the surrounding areas for over four decades.

Established as a non-profit Christian ministry in 1964, we continue our mission to meet the needs of the homeless, needy, and chemical dependent citizens of our area.

We offer a life recovery program by bringing the life changing love of Jesus Christ to hurting and broken people - restoring individuals and families to our community with hope and a future.

Our Mission Statement:                 The Frederick Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered ministry that provides a long term residential recovery program to the chemically addicted, food to the hungry, clothing and furniture to the needy.

Amidst the Economy, Our Community Cares

A Frederick Rescue Mission food box, for many families, is the difference between feeding their children and letting them go to bed hungry. So when food box distributions were put on a freeze from June 5 to June 16 due to a food shortage, the 80 families and individuals who left the Mission empty-handed were put in a hard situation.

But thanks to over 20 churches, businesses, clubs, and individuals who have committed to providing food now and/or over the summer, the pantry shelves are slowly filling back up, and we’re now giving out three food boxes a day to the hungry and homeless.

There is still a tremendous need, however! On average, the Mission gives out 8 – 12 food boxes daily, so this still leaves on average 7 – 8 families and individuals leaving without a food box daily. We need your help! For information on donating non-perishable food items, or for a list of current needs, contact us at 301-695-6633.

Thank You for playing a vital role in feeding Frederick’s hungry and homeless!

Don’t take the hot one!

When Albert “Andy” Anderson took over the kitchen at the Frederick Rescue Mission in February, he quickly became known for his delicious food and fiery chili.

Initially hired on a temporary basis, Andy didn’t waste any time using his extensive experience to bless those who came to the Mission for food. From feeding soldiers in the Navy, to feeding 1,700 inmates at a Florida prison, to now feeding the homeless, his degrees in Food Services and Criminology were well put to use.

What surprised him most upon being permanently hired as the Food Services Coordinator was how much his own life has been blessed by being a part of this ministry.

“I like working with the guys [in the program]—helping them succeed. It’s also cool dealing with the public and being able to help them,” he says.

“With the guys, it opens my eyes to the way things could be with a bad decision—makes me thankful for everything I’ve got.”

Andy has a wife of 29 years, three children and six grandchildren. He is an avid hunter and fisher, and once caught an 80-pound grouper in Florida.

As Food Services Coordinator, Andy hopes to continue to serve well-balanced nutritional meals and offer more variety, such as picnics. One of his biggest goals, however, is to better train the residents he works with in the area of Food Services so that they will have a good chance of attaining a job in the field once they graduate the program.

Feel free to stop by and welcome Andy as our newest staff member!

One Divine Vision

The Frederick Rescue Mission seeks to rescue lives from poverty, homelessness and chemical dependency.  We exist to meet the needs of hurting and broken people while inviting them into the abundant life Christ offers to all.  Every man that enters with a heart surrendered to God and a cooperative attitude should never have to see a prison, jail, homeless shelter, rehab center or rescue mission again.  He should never have to sleep under a bridge, in an abandoned house or out in the woods again.  A changed life will call on Jesus instead of alcohol, cocaine, heroin, and any other kind of drug.  The goal here is to see lives changed for eternity, now and forever.
